Education in Africa

CNN.com – Britain pledges $15 billion for African education – Apr 10, 2006

I’ve studied International Political Economy a fair deal, and from what I can see, investing in education is pretty much the best return on investment dollars, especially if you pay special attention to girls education.

Why would you want to invest in a country where the workforce is illiterate? This is where countries like Costa Rica have it right – their educated workforce, stability, and government created the right conditions for Intel to feel comfortable investing millions in a semiconductor plant there.

Hopefully, this kind of investment that Britain is making in African education will pay off, for everyone, within a generation.
