On the right track

Since I wrote my last post, another related article was brought to my attention:

TIME.com: Villagewide Wi-Fi — May 29, 2006

This is a good example of technology built with a longer term entrepreneurial spirit, that benefits the poor at a relatively low cost. This whole series in Time Magazine online is pretty interesting, if a little thin on detail. It’s worth looking at the organizations, there are some based in the Bay Area as well.

I really appreciate the company keeping costs low – it’s essential that poor villagers – like farmers and gardeners, can afford the technology.
