Kate Warren DevEx Interview, 13 April

In Career Development, Humanitarian Response, International Development, Public Health, Video on April 27, 2020 at 10:20 am

I was able to get a few minutes of Kate Warren’s time recently. Kate Warren is the Executive VP of DevEx. When I was hired in early 2008 into my first non-Peace Corps international development job after my MPA at MIIS, Kate was on the recruiting team that hired me at IRD (now Blumont). Kate left IRD in the Fall of 2008 to take a position with DevEx, and we’ve been able to stay in touch. DevEx is an excellent source of information about the “Global Development” sector – meaning all aspects of international development and humanitarian assistance, business intelligence, career development and job searching. If you want to get yourself a job in the sector, DevEx and a Career account with them is the first thing you do.

In the interview, Kate is generally optimistic about jobs for young/entry level professionals. The sector is unfortunately set up to benefit when there is more instability and suffering in the world – with new programming being funded to alleviate the effects of Covid19 and the economic slowdown – there are sure to be many projects to work on around the world and right here in the USA.

Enjoy the interview!
